It could be the fact that Katherine and CJ had to stay extra-close because of the 20 degree temp, but something about this beautiful winter engagement session at the Lincoln is extra-romantic. Katherine and CJ became a long-distance couple a few months ago, when CJ moved to Boston, and in the few days before they left to see family for Christmas, we managed to squeeze in this session. They are adorable and beautiful and sweet!
Katherine and CJ have an unusual and sweet love story. The started as friends, meeting during their year as a Falls Church Fellow. Their relationship remained platonic, even when friends started asking questions and encouraging the two to consider a more romantic relationship. CJ was the first one to make a move. It wasn’t until their second official date that Katherine realized she had feelings for him, too. It wasn’t a year later before they were ready to commit to one another!
It’s always a joy to share in the “in-between” engagement time with couples. The whole time we were together, I could feel the excitement that these two have to get married! Maybe that was what was extra-special about this session (seriously, I took about 3x as many photos as I usually do). I’m so excited to share!
That winter morning light is my absolute FAVORITE! While I am completely in love with the summer, there is something about the light in the winter that is unique to all other times of the year. The sky was completely blue and the sun was glowing. Yay!
Katherine – I hope your feet have finally thawed out!
If I’m going to shoot in the sub-freezing weather, I want it to be with these two! Thank you both for being SO willing to go out in the early-morning cold with me!
